Ballinger Canyon OHV and Deer Park offer off-roaders 11 4x4 roads, 14 Motorcycle Trails and 12 ATV Trails adding up to nearly 70 miles of mostly rugged off-road travel into washes, down narrow tracks and climbs that offer stunning views over Ballinger Canyon and into the badlands.
Skilled riders love Ballinger Canyon trails. The area offers narrow single tracks for motorcycles, wide roads for newbie riders and simple motocross tracks make a perfect place for beginners and minibike riders.

BALLINGER CANYON CAMPGROUND
Ballinger Canyon Campground is open every day year-round. The campground offers 13 campsites each with a fire ring and picnic table. The campsite offers to vault toilets. Plan for complete self-sustainability the entire time you plan to camp.
There is no potable water in the campground so be sure to bring an adequate supply of water for the duration of your trip. You will find a staging area to offload your gear just left of the information boards. No dump station is available.
Open Campground – No campsite barriers such as boulders or logs make this campground ideal for all sizes of trailers, campers, RVs, and toy haulers.

Location
The Entrance to Ballinger Canyon is off Highway 33 close to route 166. Here is the address for Ballinger Canyon OHV and Campground.

Campsite Amenities
13 campsites feature a picnic table, grill and a fire ring. 9 campsites can be reserved. Neither drinking nor non-potable water is available anywhere within the Ballinger Canyon recreation area - water will need to be in containers and brought into the area.
Fires & Firewood
Fires are only allowed in designated campsite fire rings. Open ground fires and firewood collection in the park is not allowed. You will need to purchase your firewood locally. Call ahead to check on seasonal fire restrictions at:

Dump Stations
No dump stations are available anywhere in the Ballinger Canyon OHV area. The nearest dump station is located near Interstate 5 at the Flying J Travel Center in Lebec. For more information, contact the Flying J Travel Center at:

Land Management & Closed Area Projects
There may be land management projects taking place in areas of Ballinger Canyon that include stabilizing soil areas, reshaping slopes, and reseeding and replanting bare areas. These land management project areas are may be closed temporally to OHV use through the use of fences, hay bales, brush piles, signs, and other barriers. Please support these important land management projects that sustain the park by staying out of any areas closed for restoration.

Elevations at Ballinger Canyon range from 3,000 to nearly 4,000 feet. Occasional snow falls occur during the winter. Summers are most often hot, dry and dusty.
The most pleasant times of the year for OHV fun in Ballinger Canyon are during the Spring and Fall months when the temperatures are mild and occasional rain showers make for good traction and reduced dust.
Night-time temperatures can drop below freezing in the early spring and late fall months, as well as during the winter.

GETTING HERE

FROM INTERSTATE I-5
From either direction on I-5, take the Frazier Mountain Park Road Exit (205). Go west for 12 miles. Bear right onto Mil Potrero Highway and drive 6 miles to Pine Mountain Club where you will find gas, restaurants, and stores in the Pine Mountain Village.
Continue west on Mil Potrero Highway as it transitions to Hudson Ranch Road and turn left on CA-166. Follow CA-166 for about 14 miles and turn left on CA-33.
Follow CA-33 for about 4 miles to Ballinger Canyon Road and turn left. Follow Ballinger Canyon Road to the desired location inside the Ballinger Canyon OHV Park.

FROM THE CALIFORNIA COAST & 101 FREEWAY
Pismo Beach Area
From either direction on the 101 Freeway, take the CA-166 exit. Take CA-166 east for approximately 65 miles and Turn right on CA-33. Follow CA-33 for about 4 miles to Ballinger Canyon Road and turn left. Follow Ballinger Canyon Road to the desired location inside the Ballinger Canyon OHV Park.
Ventura Beach Area
From either direction on the 101 Freeway, take the CA-33 exit. Take Highway 33 east for approximately 65 miles and turn right into the Ballinger Canyon OHV Park. Follow Ballinger Canyon Road to the desired location inside the Ballinger Canyon OHV Park.
